TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Transportation predicts that the return flow of vehicles after homecoming will occur at the end of this week.

The potential for a surge in passengers and vehicles during this backflow has made the Ministry of Transportation increase its vigilance in almost all modes of transportation, including air.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said to all stakeholders in the transportation sector, including airports, to anticipate the potential increase in the number of passengers on the return flow of Eid.

In fact, Budi predicts the return flow of Eid will occur this weekend, namely Sunday and Monday, May 16 and 17, 2021.

One of the main focuses being prepared is on the implementation of health protocols.

Apart from that, the operational standards to handle the surge backflow must be carried out correctly and consistently for both departing and arriving passengers.

“We ask all officers under the coordination of the task force to maintain the implementation of established health protocols and SOPs for both departing and future passengers,” Budi said in his statement, Wednesday (12/5/2021).

One thing that needs to be prepared is the availability of quarantine space for return-flow passengers who are indicated to be positive for Covid-19.

The quarantine room needs to be prepared to accommodate any prospective or passenger infected with the Covid-19 virus because according to the results of random tests during the homecoming ban, 4,123 were positive for corona.

“Those who have to do quarantine must also have their rooms prepared. The amount of quarantine space availability must be ensured for passengers who want to return home when the flow is back, “he explained.

In addition, the Minister of Transportation also said that the Ministry of Transportation had temporarily suspended charter (leased) flights from abroad. This termination is carried out until May 17, 2021 or the final period of the ban on going home.

Budi ensured that there would be an evaluation step regarding charter flights when the homecoming ban ended.

“And will be evaluated before reopening,” concluded the Minister of Transportation.
